Bye week = rest time = time for Clark to get unconcussioned.
Now it's time for Iowa. And this is a good team, even if the record doesn't say as much. Looking at the statistics, we have the advantage in the matchups, or at the very least, we can consider it a push. They have a solid run defense, with shaky-at-best secondary. They have a great RB in Shonn Greene, but a mistake-prone QB in Ricky Stanzi.
If you ask me, this sounds a lot like Wisconsin all over again.
Truth be told, I hope we use the same gameplan too. Run here and there to keep the defense honest - maybe not Royster's best day, but he'll break enough of the 5-8 yard variety to make it effective. Then air it out with the big guns. I fully expect the WRs to get back on track this game. And we've kept the Wisconsin duo and Beanie Wells in check, so I think the defense is ready for Shonn Greene.
Also, Iowa has this horrible lack of "coordination". The athletic department is trying to do a stadium wide black-out (which, as Purdue proved, is pointless). But the students are doing a "Greene" out, for Shonn Greene. Add in the normal gold that you're bound to see, and it's going to be the ugliest color coordination by fans EVER. I kinda hope that the Penn Staters who make the trip all dress in pink - make the entire place look like one big puke bowl.
Also, I hope Stephfon Green has a big play or two, just to spite the Iowans' "Greene Out" attempts.
The 3:30 start makes me hopeful that the team will come out with less of a morning hang-over. I think the final score will reflect as much. It's a battle early, but a runaway late - State moves to 10-0, 41-10.
