54 Million over 3 years? Too much or just about right? Another thing to think about is Cole Hamels only got 20.5 over three years. Thoughts?
Predictions and Analysis of teams in the east coming shortly. Less than a week away from pitchers and catchers reporting!!!!!! Is it April yet!!!!!

I'd like to see the actual yearly breakout - very rarely is it $18mil/year. So let's assume an easy 16/18/20 split over the next 3 years, then it's close to correct. I still think $16 is a bit too much, but the production is there. It also means we have 3 years set with Howard, and we won't have to play this game with him for awhile. If he can at least keep the pace consistent, then the money will match the worth.
Hamels is currently at a steal - <7mil/year over 3 years will (likely) be a huge discount for his worth. And I'm happy with the contract length of both. Howard will be 32 when his contract ends, which is when we'll have to start being wary of a slow-down in his career. And pitchers are hard to predict how long their arms will last at their current rate - a few years at a time is the proper stance to lock down but not over-commit.
