It's well publicized and talked about that JoePa and Bobby Bowden continue to fight for the lead in most wins by a head coach in NCAA history. Currently, JoePa has the lead by one (383-382), but that lead may be growing.

It sounds like the academic issues from a few years ago are coming back to bite FSU a little harder in the butt. Now, as they say, it won't necessarily destroy the program - Oklahoma had to forfeit their 2005 season in 2007, and they seem to have bounced back okay. While FSU might struggle a bit, the bigger news is surrounding their forfeit of the 2007 season. FTB:
While I won't touch on the writer's homer-ism and his desire to put the FSU schedule above Penn State's, the big point here is that this will take JoePa's lead from 1 game to 8 - a nearly insurmountable lead at this point in both coaches' careers/lives. It's not official yet, but it's something to keep an eye on.

WHAT: FSU will vacate the entire 2007 season (including the Bowl game).
IMPACT: From a football standpoint, this means nothing. This won't impact how the team plays. This doesn't matter in recruiting. Recruits don't care about your historical record in 2007.
This does impact Bobby Bowden. FSU went 7-6 in 2007. Bobby is currently one win behind Joe Paterno. When the sanctions are finalized, he will be eight wins behind Paterno. He will still be the second winningiest coach of all time. This move ends the race between these two coaches. Eight wins is not a gap he can close playing in the ACC while Penn State crushes the Big 10 and their pathetic out of conference schedule. I personally don't think Bowden deserves the record, because counting Bowden's lower division wins and not counting Eddie Robinson's lower division wins seems unfair.
